Work models and the value of our time.

It seems odd to me that we place an hourly value on our time. Time is one of the few things we have a limited supply of, how odd to give it away for $7 an hour or whatever. Not to say that you shouldn’t take an entry level job to learn and improve your life. But it seems unhealthy when we start to think that way internally. Instead value should be based on output, if something took three hours or three years to make it could be worth the same.

It seems corporate America is just starting to get the picture that having a butt in a chair for eight hours does not equal eight hours of productivity. In fact I feel most of the jobs I have ever had I could do in four hours a day if I focused, minus the long project here and there. In my mind the American worker needs to fight back to reclaim their time. Working five days to recover for two sucks and is not needed for many jobs. Instead why not look for a balance where you could work less time but do more?
